The Yamaha Custom YAS-875 is a professional-level alto saxophone crafted in Japan and highly regarded for its rich, centered tone, excellent intonation, and responsive keywork. Condition Before Restoration

This instrument was originally purchased used and showed normal signs of playing wear, including minor dents, scratches, and lacquer wear. Rather than treating these marks as flaws, we saw an opportunity to restore the saxophone and give it a new visual identity while preserving the legendary Yamaha tone and intonation.

KGUmusic Full Service & Customization

To achieve this, the saxophone underwent a complete professional restoration and customization process at KGUmusic:

• The instrument was fully disassembled into individual components
• The original lacquer was completely removed
• All visible signs of use were carefully addressed
• Some very fine scratches on the bell were intentionally left untouched to avoid excessive metal removal and to preserve the natural resonance and tonal character of the bell
• All springs were replaced with new ones
• All pads were replaced with premium natural leather pads featuring plastic resonators
• The body received a light, refined cognac-style patina, creating a warm and distinctive appearance
• The finish was sealed with a high-durability transparent glossy lacquer to protect and stabilize the color
• A set of KGUmusic Heavy Screws is included, completing the custom upgrade both visually and mechanically

Throughout the entire process, our main priority was to retain the original Yamaha timbre, response, and intonation while enhancing reliability, playability, and aesthetics.
